| friend, fellow countryman, globetrotter and stylish blogger jenson stopped by for NYE pics.. cus stylish ppl should ALWAYS pose together. check out his tow-tie! check out his blog here |
This was my first new year's eve in japan. i'm usually off on vacation as i despise winter and need the respite! however due to budget constraints caused buy buying a new computer and moving, this diva had to stay put this year. but nothing can stop me from having a good time and doing it in style, not even a budget, so i hopped on a jetstar flight (budget!) from my home in Osaka, and flew across the country to Tokyo.
originally, i had plans to bring in the new year at Ageha arguably the biggest club in japan and a definite good time.. but then i found the dress. i mean look at it.. thats not a club dress. the dress demanded it be taken to a shmancy party, complete with divas from ibiza and dom perignon...so hotel shangri-la, perhaps the most opulent hotel in tokyo, won out. on the 27th floor i rang in the new year to the sound of traditional otsuzumi drummers and then wiggled my little techno heart out to ibiza dj rebeka brown. and we almost didn't make it! yours truly was dressed and ready to party by 10:30 but do to hair crisis (im sure u can relate.) my party buddy mel ran late. we got to the hotel at 11:20 and headed straight for the bar. i got my champagne at 11.57!) anyway,I hope your NYE was as fanatastic as mine. the dress was divine, the make up was on point and the bubbly was flowing! below are the pics
the dress: hawtness! don't even try to hate.. u know i look cute!
apologies for the photo quality, jenson's camera was on the wrong setting.. but i'm still fierce! the outfit was completed with a black jacket From H&M (bought last summer) and my Zara winter coat.
the look (under $USD150): dress ZARA; shoes and earrings FOREVER 21. i had my clutch from before and i stole a bracelet for the night:) budget! i would have preferred a fancier shoe but by the time we got to 21 some other grubby handed, size 7.5 chica got my shoe! :( none in the store. i'm still going to buy it.though. yay for online shopping
the make up: up close. i think new year's eve calls for sparkle.. no? here's what i used:
Mac StudioFix fluid (nc45), MakeUpForever HD concealer (360/Amber) MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Gold Deposit (bronzer) & Soft and Gentle (highlighter) i used a black cream base to prime and then applied Mac Pressed pigment in Enlightening on the lid and Retrospek in the inner corners (names might be wrong as i'm translating japanese); maybelline eyeshadow in black for the outerlid and crease; mac plushglass in pretty plush on the lips; Mac fluidtrack gel liner in blackrtrack and smoulder in the lower lashline and set it with the maybelline black shadow. MAC Zoom fast black lash mascara competed the eyes. im not going to make a tutorial as i simply copied it from youtube make up guru lilpumkinpie05. have a look at the video! it's pretty straight forward. lastly on my nails i used OPINail laquer in "every month is Oktoberfest and 2 coats of an intense silver glitter over it. SPARKLES!!!!
my fellow divas mel and kennis all prettified and fabulous at the hotel. mel's (left) lip stick is on point!
party time & dom perignon champagne in hand.woo hoo! we stayed out till 7 am, hence the blurry pics.. oops!
we had the pleasure of ringing in the year with curlynikki of the epic natural hair blog curlynikki.com. she was in tokyo for a hair meet up, read more about it on her blog! we were truly grateful for her presence! she brought giveaways!
And there you have it. i thoroughly enjoyed New Years Eve 2012, and if i'm honest, it mostly because I really loved the dress. (twirls!) i was so excited to wear it. it's a great feeling when a dress makes u feel like a million dollars, esp when u get it on SALE! so here's to another budget friendly year! cheers Divas! lets make 2013 a great one!
XOXO
K.
