i'm a sucker for good sale, and some of the best bargains i've found were on the internet - so lets continue or foray into online shopping! one of the main benefits is the access to hundreds of stores, and sales for that matter, on a global scale. imagine that you can shop from a store in the UK and have it shipped to your front door, wherever you are. the internet is awesome!
so, how do you find the best stores, and more importantly, the best sales?
1. first of all, there are several sites that are somewhat of a virtual mall: shopstyle, the outnet, overstock; even amazon and ebay! shopstyle for example, features clothes from hundreds of brands and stores in one location. type in what you are looking for in detail, and you will probably find it. they also have a massive sale section where you can find various items on sale from almost any store.
2. then there are your main department stores. macys, jcpenny, target, kohls and many others all have online stores. the upside with these sites are that they feature many online only sales. make use of them. the downside is that you would almost definitely need a skybox or a reshipper, as many of them do not ship outside the US or Canada. (if you spend over a certain amount they usually offer free shipping to the domestic destination)3. next, you can go to your favourite brands/stores directly. old navy, gap, banana repubiic, victoria's secret, express, modcloth and freepeople all offer international shipping, usually at a flat starting rate. cult favourite, asos offers FREE shipping, to anywhere! and if you are a fan of one-off or handmade items, then etsy is where you want to be. its a virtual store with almost anything you can possibly imagine.
TIPS: be sure to sign up for emails from your favourite brands so you'll always be in the know when they have sale. (yay forever21!)
shop with a friend to consolidate a purchase/split shipping costs.
read the reviews before you shop. other customers will let you know if the size runs large, whether it runs true to the image, its quality etc. shoppers unite!
shop around! more than one store may have the same item. you window shop in the real world, so window shop online!
if the store has branches internationally, be sure to click the one closest to you- even if it's in a language you can't read. fashion knows no boundaries. that's what google translate is for.
stay away from sketch looking websites. look for stores with a good return/cancellation policy.
think outside the box: the world is your mall. if you're into japanese fashion check out gmarket or rakuten. if brit fashion is your thing then definitely check out topshop! there are no boarders.
ok! so there you have it. be safe, be smart. now let's go shopping!
