confession: i am guilty of going out in public looking less than presentable. very guilty. i'm very ashamed of my behaviour but in my defense, it's COLD! winter really takes a toll on me and after four months of this miserable weather, im fed up of it all. its mid march and still single digits.. WTH!? it's so hard to get it together in the morning and this week i think i hit rock bottom. i crawl out of bed and say to myself.. "whats the MOST COMFORTABLE thing i can get away with wearing to work?" yep... i used the C word, so u know it's bad.
and as i pile on random clothes and layer up, i, in my disheveled mess of an outfit (but confy!) reason that, no one i know is going to see me today. i dont care what my coworkers think cus they already think i'm a strange foreigner and all my friends are at their jobs too. but life has a SICK sense of humour... i go the store to buy lunch and as im leaving, who do i see but my equally fashion conscious friend D. she gives a very swift stink eye.. a look that says "WTF are you wearing!" i mumble something about having a "train wreck wednesday" and she decides to give me an opportunity to redeem myself. we meet up for dinner later and i redeem myself by outting my face on and rockin my fierce booties to an awesome dinner. but gawd i looked a HAWT MESS that morning! we had a good giggle abt it

i'm sure many of you have had an off day or two. days when you dont feel like styling your hair or putting on make up, or even getting dressed! usually, i have a few basic outfits or pieces that i can work with to stll pull a look together, even on a lazy day. (this week was just a really bad exception) so i thought id share (no one needs to repeat my "train wreck wednesday"):

shirt dresses/tunics:  comfy, easy, simple. not much to it but you can definitely build upon it with accessories, and make a cute outfit. the great thing about shirt dresses are that they are so easy to wear. slip on a pair of tights underneath if it's a bit and your halfway dressed already. if it's cold layer with a long sleeve tee underneath and a cardigan on top. its a win in all seasons. i like to buy shirt dreses in black or other neurtals and mix and match accesories for an entirely new look everytime i wear them.

hats/headbands:  in no way form or fashion am i dealing with my hair on a lazy day. so in comes a stylish hat or a cute headband to the rescuse.(note STYLISH. no baseball caps, unless you are trying to look like lil mama - things are never that bad) it's near impossible to make a straw fedora look bad and straw is usually neutral so it goes with many things. save yourself a bad hair day and rock a hat like u have perfect hair under there!

statement accessories:  if you aren't on top of your game, use bold accessories to draw attention away from your outfit. no one is goning to notice that you are lacking in "diva game" today when they're eyeing your fierce tote bag. same goes for earings and bracelets.

lazy-day makeup cheat sheet:  since you could barely get dressed, i'm going to guess you don't feel like doing the full makeup routine either. shadows, brushes, potions and lotions.. never mind all that. my friend fi, another diva, has one rule. "if nothing else, bronzer". bronzer immediately warms up your face and brings a nice highlight to it. since were skipping the eye shadow, you can easily add a coat of mascara to open up the eyes. (eye liner optional) and as we're doing the BARE minimum makeup-wise, we can have some fun and add a pop of colour with a bold lip. i suggest a hot pink!

sandals:  they save the day. while i guess you can go out with your flip flops (to the supermarket or beach) they really arent "outfit wear" sandals are just as comfortable and 10xs more stylish. no high heels, just flat, but stylish lazy day comforts. i love unique sandals with interesting buckles and patterns, especially the poetic licence brand. quirky chic ftw! for colder weather ballet flats, oxfords or flat boots ( nor snowboots or uggs) do the trick.

so that's it. i apologise for anyone who saw me on "train wreck wednesday"and promise to "get it together". spring is supposedly here so it'll be warmer soon! and then we'll all be on point!
so what are your tricks for those off days? comment below!

(note guerlain bronzer isn't xactly budget friendly but it's divine! black opal is a great budget alternative though)
