unless you live in the southern hemisphere, im sure you know that summer is officially here. cue shorts, sunglasses and floppy hats! summer is my favourite season, as its the one that reminds me of home the most. us tropical divas thrive on hot sun and salty water.. yay beach... but inbetween beach "limes" ( a trini word meaning get-togethers) and summer bbq are a host of other summer outings that requires a diva to represent.. to step out looking all fabulous despite the weather... divas shine in ALL seasons. you know it! and that brings me to this post: summer bronzers and blushes. check out my favourite bronzers and blushes after the jump!


 a friend of mine has one rule: if nothing at all, at least wear a bit of bronzer. i'd have to say i agree with her. especially if you're brown-skinned. in the warmth of summer, you want your skin to have that healthy sunkissed glow and bronzer helps with that. apply, sweeping on the temples, nose bridge and just under the check bones.  chosing a bronzer isn't that difficult, you want one that is relatively close to your skin tone, maybe just a touch darker to give that brunished finish. the bronzers listed below are all part of my personal collection and i definitely recommend giving them a try.
while blush is something that i wear year round, i do switch out the shades depending on the season. summer make up should be fun and playful, and blushes in these bold colours look spectacular on brownskinned divas like myself. if you are a bit on the pale side try using a lighter hues, for example an a peachy red.  i've selected a few of my favourite blushes. though the colours look quite bright, the formula istransparent so don't be worried, you wont be walking around with red or orange cheeks. 


1. IMAN Sheer Finish Bronzing Powder (#1 above) : i'm NEVER out of this product. it is the ish. damn, wear it and you'll radiate like a goddess. i swear, traffic will stop to let you cross the road. go on..just walk out in to the street! it's THAT awesome! the great thing about this product is that it can be worn as a blush or bronzer or even as a foundation. Ive been using it for abt 4 years now. i love it! apply dry with a brush for a bronzing highlight, or apply all over your face with a damp sponge for a dewy allover glow perfect for summer evenings.

2. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in gold deposit.  this product is perfect for highlighting, and a little goes a long way. just a touch on the t zone and check bones and you're done. as a plus, it also makes a great gold eyeshadow as long as you've primed your lids. tip: if you're on the pale side try it in soft and gentle. it adds some warmth and light to the face.

3. BLACK OPAL  Colour Fusion Mosaic Bronzer: i had sworn off this brand years ago, because it made my complexion appear ashy.. if you are rich inmelanin thenyou know what im talking about- that dull gray look we all HATE. BUT...on a recent trip a friend of mine used this bronzer and i was amazed...floored actually. it's a fantastic bronzer for women with a darker complexion i can't vouch for their other products but you should def give this one a try. at $6 you dont have much to lose.

4. MAC BLUSH in Foolish me: this blush is a grogeous shade of coral with a hint of shimmer that looks great in summer. just the right amt of warmth for carmel hued skin. works great on darker complexions too!(#2 above is a great substitute - foolish me may be discontinued) if you have a light complexion, try a light dusting of macs pink swoon or well dressed


5. MAC BLUSH in Peach twist (#4 above): this is my new favourite summer blush. hands down. this blush shuts it DOWN. cant help but be fierce rokin this one. its great for summer evening looks. LOVE ITTTT!
