hot sun. white sand. cool clear water. sipping mojitos under an umbrella... you get where i'm going with this. yep.. summer vacation! if you are anything like me then you def have a summer getaway planned! sooo excited...but what oh what do i pack? aside from the obvious basics like a swimsuit, sunblock and bronzer, what do you throw into that carry-on for your trip? after several trips where i over-packed or under-packed (somehow i ended up in Seoul with no bottom pieces! eek!) i've finally got it down to a science.. here's my list:
1. dress shorts in neutral colours: sure, you can pack regular ole denim cut off but that can quickly look age inappropriate and not exactly classy.. not to mention their a bit difficult to dress up... and we want versatility in every item we pack. instead go for a pair of shorts that you can dress up with a cute blouse and heels for afternoon cocktails.
2. a maxi dress: essential for that vacation date night or soiree. maxis are easy to pack, and easily dressed-up or down. belt it and add statement accessories to personalise it!
3. light airy tops: they are lightweight, mostly wrinkle free and will always go well when paired with your neutral bottom pieces.
4. comfortable, but dressy flats: there's most likely going to be a lot of walking. you want to be stylish, yet comfortable.
5. wedges: sure, heels are great but do you really want 6 inch heels while on vacay? i didn't. they're not very dance friendly! wedges solve the hight and style issue but still provide comfort.
6. hat: who wants to be bothered with hair while on vacation! not to mention you may most likely be limited in your hair products as you can only carry travel sizes. save time and rock a hat.
7. tote: its the perfect vacation handbag. not only will it serve as a great beach bag but it also works for shopping and fits your iPad perfectly.
8. accessories: take lots of accessories, as they can make or break an outfit. belts, bangles, necklaces, earrings. mix and match and you'll be fabulous.
so thats it! those are your essentials. remember you want to pack light, as you'll probably be shopping and you need to leave room for your new purchases! stay tuned for budget friendly vacation destinations and travel tips!
