the make up bag: valentine's day looks

valentines make up looks: "sultry" (left) and "demure" (right)

to go along with the looks in the previous posts, i've done two make up looks to match them... (i was bored. don't judge me!) bear with me - these are still-shots as i have no tripod nor the technical know-how to make a makeup vid yet, so i took pics with my iCam..sorry!!! please comment and let me know what you think of the looks..anyway.. lets get started.

start with a clean moisturised face. apply your foundation evenly and ensure that theres no streaking. your foundation brush is your friend :).  here's me with just my foundation on...

Once your foundation is on (left) fill in your eyebrows and define with concealer.
then i filled in my brows with my eyebrow pencil and defined them using a  MAC 212 definer brush and MAC NC35 concealer. and yes.. i have deep dark circles.. i'll fix em later.

be sure to blend eyeshadow well.
now for the eye shadow. you'd need a gold/bronze (MAC casino-now discontinued), a rose pink (sephora collection 2010)  and a higllighting colour ( MAC retrospeck or rice-paper). first, make sure your lid is primed with an eyeshadow primer. i used urban decay's primer potion. then, apply the gold to the lid with your applicator brush. then, with your blending brush, apply the pink into the outer corners and blend into the crease. be sure to buff out the colours so that its evenly blended. apply the highlight colour to your brow-bone and blend. apply liquid eyeliner in a thin line and wing it out. add a black pencil liner to the water line and use your definer drush to repeat the pink and gold shadows on your lower lash line. add two coats of mascara for impact lashes.

after i finished the eyes, i cleaned up under the eye with concealer.
then i added brozer and highlighter to brings some warm up the face.

bronzer and highlighting powder can give your face some definition.  first, i used my concealer as a highltighter to conceal my dark circles and then  and MAC mineralize skin finish in soft and gentle over it to bring some light to my face. then i applied bronzer (MAC mineralize skin finish- gold deposit) to my cheek bones and t-zone. on top of the bronzer, i sucked in my cheeks and applied my blush to my cheekbones

Lastly i appled lip gloss and viola....

demure.. well as "demure" as i get. make up to go with the look from the last post.
ok.. so by this point i was really tired, cus i had to stop to take pics at each step, so instead of washing my face and starting over from scratch, i cheated.. (so sue me!) the beginning is the same for both looks so i simply blotted out the pink eyeshadow and instead applied a matte black to my outer lids, and blended it out into the crease for a smokey eye. i then used my bodyshop eyeshadow brush and placed the same eyseshadow along my lower lash line. i gave my water line a second application of MAC's smolder eyeliner. then i added red lipstick.. and there ya go.. a hot and sultry make up look.. well at least i think so...

my "sultry" face? ..maybe.. make up to go with the sultry look from the last post.
and again, my apologies for the pic quality...please comment and let me know what you think.. and happy (early) valentines day!

stay fierce!

  1. I love both looks but the 'demure' one is more my style. I like the softer colours and it's something I'd be willing to try.
